Meet Our First Guests

July 9, 2021 by mm.stratton@homecamp.com

Our first guest was a Mediterranean Gecko who hung out on a pile of discarded aluminum cans. We named him Gary.

We ran into Mr. King, a chicken snake, when he was stubbornly sitting in the shade one day and would not move. He’s more than 6 feet long. Even though we threw rocks towards him to git, he would not budge. So we let him be. A month later he was slithering across our path and right up a hackberry tree. We’re happy to have him there to chomp down the excess cicadas!

This little fella was not so welcome, as have been the mosquitos… and an elusive country mouse in our storage building. But as we develop the site and add guinea fowl and other friends, the eco-system will balance out.

We’ve also had dragonflies and of course daily deer.
